it all started upon returning from a family bike ride, early one saturday morning. we hadn't been home for 5 minutes when mark and i heard "the scream." you know what i am talking about...the scream heard round the world. the one you know you'll see blood or missing and/or broken bones when you find the source of the scream. OH. MY. WORD. this scream led us to addison and a mouth full of blood. oh yum! since we weren't near her, we concluded she had tripped over her "safety helmet" bike helmet (ironic???? supposed to keep you safe.hmmm) and had fallen on the threshold leading from the garage into the kitchen. she split her lip right open. we immediately took her to the ER (after dropping off august at my parents-thank you mom and dad for living close by). she stopped crying almost immediately at the site of mom and dad, actually, which made me feel better. i wanted to cry, but knew i had to hold it together for her. if she saw me cry, she would probably start again. mark was amazing, as usual. she was so cute and held the paper towel over her split open lip (and when i say split, i mean split...it was so weird looking). the doctors and nurses were soooo amazing and addison was a champ. she screamed bloody murder when the dr. gave the lip a shot of something to numb it for stitches. oh, gee, i almost passed out. i began seeing stars and started singing "jesus loves me." i think i was talking about going to get strawberry milkshakes or something. anyway, she did great and i was so proud of my little angel. when we got home she wanted to ride her scooter. oh, the true sign of a brave girl. mom and dad emphatically said, "NO!" the stitches came out 5 days later and you can barely see a scar. thank you dr. ziwoabi from OC memorial hospital-you rock!
