the garden is flourishing...

we are so excited about the garden this year, with many new items.  unfortunately, so are the bugs.  we were trying to keep it organic, so we haven't sprayed anything on it.  this morning i had to spray soapy water to keep bugs at bay (well, the girls helped out with that one), after finding them on the stems of the carrots.  hopefully that will help.  the green beans and the tomatoes have been delicious.  the broccoli is just now coming in, so we'll be enjoying that soon, too!

here is august holding the first carrot...which mark threw away b/c it had bugs on it.  boo hoo!

when we planted this we thought it was a cucumber, but now, we are thinking it is squash.  tasted it about a few weeks ago and it was sour.  so, we aren't sure we want to touch it.  looks good though.

this is kale!...yes, i said kale.  our neighbor down the street gave us some and even planted it for us.  weeks later it is going gang bustas.  too bad i don't entirely like it.  mark loves it, but it takes about an hour or so to truly steam the way he likes it.  i guess if you added some drizzled chocoloate over it i might like it.

here is the broccoli and green beans.  maybe we should have planted one each in the garden boxes.  they are a little crowded.
